Destin, Florida 2011

I’m back!!!  As most of you know I’ve been in Florida on vacation and that means no blogging!  Internet service was very poor down by the beach, not to mention I was on VACATION so I figured a break from the online world was needed.  Destin, FL was absolutely beautiful.  The white sand and clear emerald water was completely foreign to me.  Anyone who has been to a Texas beach knows exactly what I’m talking about.  We ended up staying at Ariel Dunes II right across the street from the beach.  Excellent choice.  Our room was amazing and for the price we definitely will be booking it again with Harmony Beach Vacations.  The access codes for our condo where waiting for us at the property which helped since we did not get into Destin until 3am.  There were no issues getting into the condominiums and we even had a complementary bottle of wine waiting on the counter when we arrived.  The place was fully equipped for our large family.  Flat screens with dvd players in every room, fully stocked kitchen (appliances, pots & pans, etc),  and beautiful décor & furniture with plenty of space.  There was not one thing that we needed.  Most families will appreciate knowing that.  There is nothing worse than arriving to your destination only to find that you will need to run out to your closest Walmart to pick up items not provided as planned.

The majority of the trip was spent chasing my daughter around.  She wore me out.  That’s with help too.  Not sure what I would have done without my family there.  The beach was great although there were only two days we were able to actually spend out there since it did rain a lot while we were down there.  When we were able to make it out we brought along a huge tent.  Very smart idea.  Having a toddler I was worried I wouldn’t be able to stay out all day in fear she would get sun burnt.  The shade it provided was perfect.  She was even able to take a two hour nap out there.  The constant breeze after hours of swimming in the ocean helped put her straight to sleep.  That meant mommy had some time to tan.  Yay!  I definitely needed to get some sun.

As for partying, we had a few pool parties at our friend’s house while we were there but I didn’t get to go out to any clubs until the last night we were in town.  So of course I had to make that night memorable.  We ended up going to Village Door which is in Baytowne Warf.  Loved it.  The crowd was fun and the live band was a plus.  My sister and I met lots of people from all over but mainly the southern states.  Boy did I fall hard for the southern gentlemen.  They were so charming.  =)  I definitely need to find me a guy like them.

We were able to check out Panama City Beach while we were there.  I didn’t care for it as much as Destin.  It was very touristy and just not as pretty.  It was raining the entire time so we visited a few souvenir shops and then spent the afternoon at Wonder Works.  A great place for the kids but I didn’t have as much fun as everyone else.  Taking Makenna along was a challenge in there.  She wanted to be held the entire time.  I wish we would have brought a stroller along with us.  Mental note for next year made!

Well I could go on and on about our trip but I’m sure there are more exciting things that I could be blogging about.  Time to catch you guys up with everything else that is going on in my life.  =)

  1. Beautiful place. My niece went with a friend and her family the week before you all. Looks like you had fun and definitely a relaxing time.
